| Another technique I have employed to great effect is the use of balance baits aided by either yellow rig foam for corn / maize or the insertion of cork plugs into tiger nuts. By trimming the cork very delicate presentation can be achieved.
Finally, one last tip is to follow your nose and watch for activity on your chosen water. A fish that jumps or rolls is generally feeding and they can be caught. So don't sit back watching from one end of the lake, move to them. It may be well worthwhile even though you have a mountain of gear to take with you.
This tactic has accounted for some of the following fish.
...
.......... .32lb -10oz...................................35lb-10ozz.................And that 33lb-13oz fish again
Enjoy your winter carping, in doing so you will learn as you go along. Don't be afraid to move away from the tried and tested methods in order to find something original.
