Tackle Review Page.

Boss Roller. I have been using this roller for the past 12 months or so. It is lightweight, hardwearing and compact with the side rollers collapsing inside for easy storage. The legs are thin but strong enabling them to be easily pushed into the ground for a firm hold even in the windy conditions that we experience. The only draw back is the metal caps on the side rollers. If one is not careful then a pole section can easily be damaged if they come into contact with these.

Milo Roller. This was the first pole roller that I ever brought. In comparison to the Boss, it is very cumbersome and heavy. The side rollers are fixed and the framework is made from steel section. The legs are made from round tube and as a result they do not spike the ground so easily as the boss. The side rollers have metal bolts securing them to the frame, which again can damage sections if not careful. This roller served me well as can be seen from the picture but now it has been put into retirement.

Boss Rock and Roller. This is my latest edition and even though I have only used it a couple of times I think it is brilliant for long pole work, you know, when you can ship back with ease with less breaking down. The rocking part of the roller works with the sections, allowing more freedom of movement. This roller has the same qualities as its older brother but sadly also has the same metal caps on the side rollers. Maybe they will replace these with time for softer rubber / foam versions.

Skeetex Essex Boots. These I acquired last October and use them every time I go out. This past winter they have been invaluable in keeping my feet warm. I don't know about you but generally my toes are the first to suffer on a hard winters day. Not with these babies the thermal insert socks see to that. I can highly Recommend them to anyone thinking of replacing their boots or even purchasing for the first time. We can pay a fortune for this type of comfort so it's important we get it right from the start.

Keenets Club Class Trolley. This item of tackle has been invaluable at times; assisting with long walks or with steep hill climbs. However it has not been designed to the best on the market. For example the long handle does not lend itself to supporting holdalls as well as tackle boxes. If a 'T' Piece had been inserted along its middle, to prevent the bag from falling past to the floor then it would have been more stable. I have to carry my platform as a support for the back of the frame to prevent my holdall falling, even though I do not intend to use it once I get to my peg. Another flaw that I have found is with the inner tubes. I noticed recently that they had started to bulge, to the extent that the tyres were being forced from the rim. When I removed them for a closer look, I found them to be much to big for the rim. In fact they were folded over them selves. In hindsight I should not have brought this item, I believe there are better value models on the market for the fifty or so quid I paid out for this one.
