A recent question was posted to the Forum page by Giles, asking as to what was a true hook size. Many Fisheries now state that only certain sized hooks are allowed. But what is a true size hook, what is a size 14 or a size 12? At Talkangling we decided to put some of them to the test by measurements. We measured (a) The total length from the base of the hook to the top of the spade or eye. (b) The gape. (c) The length of the point again from base to tip and (d) the gauge.
